Oh No

Good morning. I dropped off the kids this morning at the YMCA. I noticed there was a police car and some people outside. So I figure somone got a little overheated. Well I go to get my coffee (Starbucks) and there was a police man there. I asked him if he knew what was going on at the Y. He said that there was a chemical leak. I asked if the kids were going to be able to go inside he said he didn't know. I am real paranoid now. The temp 101 and heat index 110. Are they gonna be out all day? I am going to call at lunchtime and if they are still out I will go pick them up. If they are allowed in I guess all will be good. This friend of ours has the right idea. And this is where I would like to be.

OH, that must be Prince Brutus!!! HOw cute!

OH Danielle! I know you're worried about your kids. How scary! I like how you think though, I'm like you. Most people I know would panic. I'm of the mind that they wouldn't be let in if it wasn't safe and if they wouldn't be aloud in, go and pick them up. Good for you! It's nice to see someone not get worked up without cause. People now days panic before knowing the details!

I know what you mean. I called the Y just a bit ago. They said the kids were inside. It turned out to be equipment problems not chemical. But I will call back at lunch to see how things are. I think I just don't want to be at work. They say 115 today.

I agree w/Kim! How scary! But they definately wouldn't allow the kids in if they felt there was any danger to them. Do you know what kind of chemical leaked?

Hi Prince Brutus!

They said it was mechanical. Something was smoking so they called the fire dept.

Hi, Sure glad to hear that all is well at the Y. Better to be safe when there is smoke.

It is suppose to be much cooler tomorrow-hope so, right now it is 95 but the humidity isn't as bad today-tomorrow it is predicted to be around 85 and even less humid-we'll try to send the cooler stuff your way soon!!!

Hey Danielle! I guess it takes a very level-headed mom to not panic...me? I take pills that are supposed to stop that sort of thing, but PANIC! at the Disco for me!!!
Hmmm, Prince Brutus was checking out a "Meals on Wheels" thingy I get every day...helps with the grocery bill. It's delivered at 9:00 am in the Summer, and the 2 of them, Brutus and Marigold know it, and they are ALL OVER it until I can get it in the fridge! And, as you can see, even then!
This also reminds me of my mother, in a way;-P. Before central air, I remember floor fans, and one window a/c in the living room...my mother would wear a wet rag around her neck, just like grandma (that works!) but she would open the freezer compartment, and STAND THERE for as long as her little legs could hold her there! You'd walk in the kitchen, and see this little Italian lady's lower torso, and the upper torso obscured by the freezer door, and have to assume she was laying across the Swanson TV dinners and frozen veggies! Brutus STILL cllimbs in there, and of course Marigold picks things up really quick, so I have to do a "head count" before I close the fridge door!
It WAS STINKY (literally in places!) in NJ today...117 F heat index...I went out about 8:00a to take the garbage out and almost turned back! The weekend looks nice around here...much cooler and drier...thank you , Claire! AAHHHHH!!

Danielle, thanks for using Brutus' picture today! Made me smile!!

Boy, do I have a spleen to vent! But I'm saving it for tomorrow!!!
TWO, count them, TWO issues!! The Queen of the Long Post will return with a vengence!!

'till then, try to chill everyone!!
